Robert DeLeskie

My passion is storytelling. No matter the medium, I love to tell stories that move people in fresh, original and surprising ways.
My most recent work has been as a writer, director and story-editor on BGM's series "Paranormal Nightshift." It's a spooky, fun and pulpy series of chilling and thrilling real-life encounters with the horrifying and unexplainable. Now airing on The Travel Channel in the US and soon to come to Canada.

I also have over a decade of experience directing TV commercials, brand images spots and promos for clients including Bayer, Hasbro, General Mills, Kraft, Proctor & Gamble, Parmalat, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dove, WINNERS, Rogers, Corus Entertainment and PBS Sprout Network.

I've written and directed a number of award-winning short films that have been broadcast internationally and played at festivals around the world. My most recent film is the horror short LAY THEM STRAIGHT which has played at over 100 festivals worldwide and won 22 awards. My previous short JACK IN THE BOX was nominated for Best Comedy at the Yorkton Film Festival and aired on the CBC. My short film PEEP SHOW has won multiple international awards and played at more than 150 festivals to date, as well as on international TV and even airplanes. THE RUNNER debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and played at the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival. I also co-wrote and directed A DAY AT THE OFFICE, an original half-hour film created for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and Bravo, in collaboration with the modern dance company CORPUS. My debut feature film “Night Life” is being developed with the support of Telefilm and the Harold Greenberg Fund, and produced by Strada Films and Union Pictures.

I went to school at York University (Film Production Program), as well as Concordia University’s Graduate Program in Communication, and am an alumnus of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Talent Lab and Screenwriting Mentorship Program.
In addition to making films, I teach directing, editing and cinematography at the university and college level. I also write stories, take pictures and design history-based boardgames.
